What a week.
16 hours in LA, a night out in NYC and a sick kid. But shoe shopping to make it all better.
Only 12 more days till Christmas and I have to say, last week was a whirlwind. Last Monday night I flew to LA for what has, for me, been my shortest trip ever. I spent more time traveling than I did awake and on the ground. But it was such an honor to be invited to the The Wrap’s Power Women Summit and do our first EVER live podcast for Lipstick on the Rim. We got to interview the incredibly badass Lilly Singh, and it was so much fun doing it in front of a serious audience. The episode is such a good one I really want to hear what you guys think, so drop me a line please. Was definitely not our typical topic but I so enjoyed it. And also, I’m ready for more lives STAT. It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t sneak in a quick meal and shop of course. Whoops.

Very into wearing tights to freshen up a look. I was stumped about what to wear and packed at the last minute, so it was a quick run to Wolford that saved my butt. These tights are super similar and will do wonders for any dress or mini skirt you decide to pair them with. Sheertex is a brand I was introduced to through a friend and I am dying to try them - they won’t rip or run, which is amazing when you think of how expensive tights can get.
If you’re ever in Beverly Hills you HAVE to hit up Wally’s for lunch. Their chopped salad is incredible as are their truffled fries (and the skinny spicy marg is chefs kiss).
Something about LA always makes me want to shop in person. The stores are great, you’re walking outside in 80 degree weather, and you’re on vacation so money (and calories) doesn’t count. One of my favorites has been Jill Roberts where I have been shopping for over 20 years. Picked up this Isabel Marant Jacket on sale and my go-to sweatpants from Free City
Flew back to Jersey and the next night went to NYC for a much needed girls dinner (at Nobu, my favorite), but not before we made a pit stop at Saks for drinks at L’Avenue, a mirror selfie and some shoe shopping. Oh - and I also took my very first ever pedi cab ride which was equal parts amazing and terrifying. Wore a last minute outfit purchase from my beloved Tea + Oranges shop in Summit, NJ where I found this amazing Lisa Yang cashmere polo. Less expensive version here. I paired it with the cutest Baum und Pferdgarten mini skirt (on sale here, no where I purchased it ugh). Did plain black Wolford tights (that have been through the wash and still hold up) - not sure why or how but they are almost $20 cheaper where I linked them. And these Isabel Marant boots are just the best. Bought them last year and they are staples every season I feel like. Available in all sizes here.
First ever pedi-cab didn’t disappoint!!!!! Though we did think we would die at one point.
Reality hit the next day when I got the call from school we all dread - Lily wasn’t feeling well, was tired and very pale. I obviously have PTSD with everything we went through with Grace, so needless to say I dropped everything and ran to pick her up and just showed up at our doctors office. Her bronchitis was back but she is fine, and after 24 hours on antibiotics she was back to her sassy self thank God.
Felt like I deserved to close the week out with some sale shoe shopping and found some amazing deals. These Manolo Blahnik ballet flats being the find of the century - a neutral comfy shoe that I’ll have for years. I wore them immediately and they are just the best. You can’t go wrong with a nude suede people. Not a lot of sizes left because this such a good find. I also got the Christian Louboutin heel I have wanted on sale, but had Mike and the girls “pick it out” so it could go under the tree. I’ve gotten smart. After one too many sweatsuit sets, I know how to come out on top. I can’t find them on sale online ANYWHERE, but if you buy them here you can use the code NEW15 to get 15% off.
They are just so comfortable. And the heel feels like art. I got them in the grey suede, but they also had purple suede on sale. The almond was NOT on sale.
That’s all I’ve got at the moment. More to come. Hope you all are having a great week. xx Em
