Friends - summer feels like it has kicked into full gear. And also swiftly kicked me in the teeth and knocked me out. When did the transition from school being out to no school become even more stressful than the normal daily grind??? Is it that I have kids in different camps, know I have to pack for being away for several weeks in different locations, have had lacrosse tournaments and now stressed out about sports try outs part of it? I suspect it is. Alas, nothing a little retail therapy hasn’t been able to help with. As I prepare for summer, some vacations and just general organization, here are the things I have bought or have my eye on - and some incredible finds.
Someone sent me a DM a while back about finding tops under $100. And while I was able to find some cute ones that were closer to under $150, I still now keep my eye out for great finds. I was down a rabbit hole on Kohl’s and found this and immediately knew I needed to share it. For under $50 (!!!) I was super pumped. This top is also worth a shout out because it looks like a flowy Doen but is under $100.
Now I have been on a reaaaaal shoe kick lately. I say it always - I keep most of my dressing simple so I can let me shoes shine (see what I did there lol - I’m really such a nerd when I make myself chuckle). These Manolos are a hefty investment - but they are on the side of classic that gives a little personality. These are forever shoes. Someone sent me a DM and told me they can’t get the shoe out of their head. However, I do think these do a very similar job and are under $400.
Now let’s gracefully move from gorgeous shoes to armpits. Yep. You read that right. I was in Sephora the other day and I picked up the Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant. I recall fondly wearing the fragrance YEARS ago. I thought it was so pretty and soft and feminine. At the checkout line was the $35 deodorant and the friend I was with said she had heard it’s really good - so that’s all I need to hear. I don’t know about y’all, but I have a hard time finding a good deodorant. I had an incredible breast cancer oncologist tell me to not think twice about natural deodorants, that it’s a myth. She said feel free to use the Dove. But sometimes Dove doesn’t cut the mustard guys, especially when it is a staggering 90 degrees on the east coast. So I bought it. And WOW. WOW. WOW. I am smelling divine even while the rest of me is sweating profusely. It is incredible. In fact, I have since returned to buy another one. So there. Also - it’s $3 cheaper at Ulta, so I linked it there.
It’s fair to say that I do get quite a bit of stuff sent to me, which is a lovely perk that I feel insanely fortunate to receive. So it is all the more meaningful when I decide to pull the trigger on something and buy it. I was buying a birthday present at Bloomingdale’s the other day and stumbled on this dress. It is one of those flattering dresses that you think will look like a sack but it is in fact very well cut to be equal parts comfy but also very flattering. I love the color combo and the puffy sleeve. And it’s not so expensive it makes your blood boil at $235 it’s a dress you’ll wear for years to come.
Speaking of easy dresses - this dress I bought last year in the funnest color combo, and just went on their site and fell in love with this and the same dress in a simple neutral color. I bought the lilac one the other day when I was in the city and it’s just easy to wear and breezy.
Ok, I’m off to take the kids to camp and then haul butt to Homeland Security and Immigration as I am in the midst of becoming an American citizen. More to come.
Love to you all and here is to the best summer yet. xx Emese
