I was scrolling through Instagram the other night and this post popped up about IG series that people should consider doing. I fell for it and watched it and one of the suggestions was sharing “finishing touches”. I’ll be honest, I felt like I was cheating when I decided to write this post based on that, but the fact is that the finishing touches, especially for me, are how I add personality to my outfits. A great scarf. A fabulous belt. Beautiful jewelry. So I actually thought it would be a value add for you all, and even better, to share some of my favorite finds - at all price ranges - that help you polish up your outfit every single time.
I’m going to start with the basics. For me the daily outfit is usually a great pair of jeans like these ones (I have them in multiple colors now), and a classic tshirt (my go-to and EMESE15 saves you 15%) or crewneck sweater. This allows me to add layers, add texture and a little personality. You don’t need to break the bank on these, but consider investing in one or two great pieces a year/season - you will thank me. Instead of buying 6 sweaters from Zara, hunt down one great one on sale (I love buying my cashmere in the off season when it goes massively on sale - you’ll end up with a $500 sweater at 70% off and feel great about it). Both MyTheresa and Net-a-porter are great options for this in the off-season.
If I’m tucking my tee in, I love a great belt. On the high end this one is my go-to - the buckle detail is so different and special it alone makes the outfit. I also recently bought this one and have worn it so many times, the girl math maths. This is an identical version to the Celine (I know this because I have it) but at a fraction of the price. On the more budget friendly side, this one is a favorite and looks and feels so luxe. Never underestimate the power of a belt. Case in point: a pair of cream high waisted trousers and a simple white tank in the summer becomes a ton more interesting with a beautiful belt like this one.
