I have struggled with how to share this for some time. I am not a gatekeeper. I want everyone to know whatever it is that makes me feel great and look great. But there is a stigma around using the tools and medications that really smart people have worked hard to develop for us. A negative connotation. Something to be ashamed of.
And at the core - I have come to realize - there is nothing to be ashamed of if we don’t make it feel like something we have to hide. Me not sharing how I have lost weight and feel better than I have since my 20s feels like the shitty thing. Not the fact that I have this incredible tool helping me. I actually think we are doing a disservice to our friends and acquaintances by not being transparent - because they may just think they aren’t working out hard enough, or aren’t disciplined enough. So this is why I want to be honest. If you’re like me, and have tried everything. You work out. You make better food choices. Or maybe you just have weight to lose and need help. That’s ok. The important part is knowing a) you’re not alone and b) there are some really wonderful options out there to help you. I am not paid by any pharmaceutical companies (although HEY - if you’re reading this and looking for someone I am HERE FOR IT lol). I just truly am so grateful that this medication exists to help not only me, but a whole population of people who want to feel better about themselves physically and mentally. These “tools” are here to help us and the more open we are about it, the more we are able to help others.
I chose to use a picture I took of myself this summer - in a two piece. I hadn’t worn a two-piece since pre-kids. It felt GREAT guys. And I honestly wouldn’t have been able to get there on my own. It is a gift that I can feel confident in my mid-40s and be a positive example for my daughters are having body positivity.
This is the first time I have used the audio feature on here - it felt weird, but also right at home. I think I will continue to do audio diaries on life here with shopping as regular written posts. Let me know what you think - feel free to ask me any questions and I will answer them.
And for those that will ask - Dr. Alexandra Sowa is amazing and her practice is linked here.
Thanks for listening (and reading!) xx Emese
Ps - I also chose to make this post public because the goal of it is to help people and not keep it a secret.
