Friends. When we started our podcast four years ago (!!!! Holy $hit!!!), we did it so we could build a community, have a forum, to share all the things Molly and I shared with one another on a daily basis. The glosses, the creams, the treatments…you get it. And over the last few years, I’ve had the good fortune of being introduced to some of the best experts and products around. Today I wanted to share with you everything I have done (Botox, filler, lasers, etc.) to the things that I use on a daily basis to keep my skin hydrated and glowing. This is my skin, unfiltered if you will.
DERM TREATMENTS
A few years ago, my dear friend Dr. Steven Levine - board certified plastic surgeon in NYC (who also has done every single face lift worth noting) introduced me to Dr. Marnie Nussbaum. Dr. Levine had done my Botox as a favor for a few years, but his schedule was getting fuller and I knew it was the last thing he wanted to do (he was just being a good friend lol). I trusted him from day 1 because he would never do something he didn’t feel I needed. Case in point - YEARS ago I asked for filler in my lips. He refused. Said when the time was right he would, but he didn’t want it to look unnatural, and over time my lips would lose volume and when they did he would put the volume back in, but not making me look like a lunatic. When he passed the baton along to Marnie I fell in love with her. She gave me the best Botox ever. Now here is the deal - do you need Botox? No. But I am a big believer in doing what brings you joy and makes you feel better about yourself. My forehead is very heavy and lines show up that make me look a lot older than my years. I started doing Botox when I was 29 years old and have done it about 3x a year since, minus during my pregnancies. It makes me feel refreshed. Finding the right dermatologist that you trust is key, and I trust Marnie implicitly. She injects all around my forehead, and then puts a touch around the eye area to smooth out lines. We have done neck Botox before too, but only once. I did notice a difference with it and will definitely do again. Now for filler - I have dabbled with it in my face twice. Truth is its not for me. I now only do it in my upper lip with Marnie and she does such a natural job no one ever knows I have had anything done. In fact, I did it yesterday. I get a little bruising almost always but it goes away with a few days. But she does such natural work that if you don’t see my bruises you would never know I did anything. That’s the key IMO. I think finding the in-office procedures that work for you is something you should never feel ashamed of. And find a doctor who you trust - if you see someone that looks amazing, don’t be afraid to ask who they go to. I also try to stay clear of the medi-spas. They can be great but at the end of the day they aren’t doctors and I have seen some stuff go horribly wrong.
