This week on the podcast we got to sit and have a real gabfest with one of our favorite jewelry designers - Adina Reyter. (Here’s a link to listen!) Before I even start talking about charms, and chains and sparkles, hearing any female founders story is always inspiring. It always gets me excited to learn how someone took a kernel of a dream and worked their tushies off to make it a reality. So just to hear THAT is beyond fun. But then the icing on the cake - or the shimmer to the stone (?) was when we got down to talking about building a jewelry wardrobe. And let me tell you, no one was more excited about this than I.

I got my first Adina charm necklace for Christmas last year. I had been fawning over them on Instagram for months and was so excited to get this piece. There is something special about a charm necklace that to me was where I would get to collect mementos on and keep building my little story on a chain.

My original chain; my good luck charm

Since my original chain and charm, I have built a few things now - my exact charms are all linked here for your perusal. Investing in jewelry is one of those things that sometimes seems frivolous and unnecessary. But I have always been a gal that buys her own pieces. For me, they are the way I mark a special occasion or achievement and always have been - even since before I got married. Got a raise? I bought myself cute little earrings. Got a new job? I treated myself to a little bangle. When Molly and I started the podcast, I treated myself to the Shylee Rose necklace that I have worn consistently for over 3 years and still gets compliments daily.

It’s safe to say that with jewelry, for me more is more lol. I love layering my pieces and I don’t give into any rules about mixing metals. To me there are no rules around that - but I also am a rebel and will have zero shame in wearing brown and black or black and navy, so riddle me that. Now while this is really about where to invest in pieces, I think it’s also so important to share that there are AMAZING options out there that can give you incredible quality with lab grown stones that are stunning. Dorsey is a brand that I feel nails it every dang time. I went to a formal attire wedding a few weeks ago, and I layered this Dorsey and this one and it was stunning (see below).
