5 Summer Dresses that will take you from Beach to Dinner.
The art of the cover up is not something to underestimate. Over the years, I have collected several, but it was as I was packing for our trip to Provence over the last few weeks that I realized the ones that I reach for aren’t just a cover up, but more a dress that I can wear to the pool or beach, but also may run to lunch or dinner in.
Juliet Dunn is known for her dress/cover ups. They are all special, but it’s this particular style that I have fallen in love with. When I first pulled it out of the box, I thought - this is HUGE. There is no way this is going to fit - it’s a One Size number and I was in disbelief when I popped it on how good it looked. Something about the cut of it truly looks amazing, and fabulous on all shapes and sizes. The print is so happy, but now I want it in other colors and patterns.
Natalie Martin is one of my favorite dress/cover up brands. I have been wearing her pieces for years and they are the ultimate coverup meets dress. They are flowy, slightly bohemian and stunning. This print here is perfection.
I recently wore an Apiece Apart dress as a cover up and I got so many questions about it. The print I have isn’t available anywhere anymore (I searched high and low) but this print is adorable and the cut is the same. To wear over a swimsuit I just don’t use the belt, but then belted it just gives such a nice shape and is perfect for a casual day or night out.

One of my favorite summertime brands is Xirena. They make the best dresses - gauzey, breezy and easy. This one below is a classic style they make every year and it’s so flattering and you can go straight from the beach out in it. I love this new version of it and this color is pure summer joy.

Frank + Eileen is a brand that gets the simple style I love in the summertime. Aside from their classic button downs, their shirt dresses are a staple as a cover up meets dress. I have them in colors, prints and they always get the most compliments. And are SUPER flattering - hiding anything that needs hiding and cut just in a nice simple line that looks good on all. I have both the maxi and shorter versions in my closet.
Other options I love is this shirtdress that’s under $100, and this one from Doên that is meant to be a nightgown but I wear as a dress or cover up. I am going to be perusing the French markets this week to find some French Riviera style coverups, so will definitely share any gems I come upon! Hope everyone is off to a wonderful week. Xx Em
