Over the last three years, I have spent a lot more time seeing my face reflected back at me than I ever could have thought possible. Not because I’m a vain human who just looks at herself, but rather between video content from the podcast, to putting more of myself on Instagram, I am constantly forced to see my own mug. And I can understand why that is a mind eff for a lot of people. It provides an opportunity to obsess over the flaws that we otherwise wouldn’t let bother us that much, or we become hyper focused on something that no one else would ever notice. For me, that’s my under eye area. I know that the true solve here is to go under the knife - and I am NOT against it. But before I get to that place, I want to try and do what I can and I have a little system that seems to be working for me, and has definitely helped me significantly. It’s by no means perfect, but enough of you have messaged me to say they see a difference (some even have asked if I had surgery - the answer is no, and had I, I would be asking for a refund because I still see all the issues that bother me, just less glaringly!). So let me share with you my tips and tricks here in the hopes that my fellow under eye warriors can see some of the benefits.
EYE PATCHES
I can’t say this enough. An under eye patch a day, keeps the puffiness at bay. I started using a daily under eye patch over a year ago. The one that has been the biggest game changer hands down are these ones. Here is why: They stick to your under eye area like Velcro. THEY DON’T MOVE. You can feel an almost instant cooling sensation, but the longer you leave them on, the more tightening you start feel happening. This is because of the caffeine (!) which is a natural antioxidant that is best known for reducing puffiness. Vitamin C helps to brighten the darkness and peptides are so hydrating. It’s a non-negotiable for me in the morning. I wake up, come downstairs and before I start my morning routine of breakfasts and lunches for the kids, I slap them on at don’t take them off for about an hour. Other eye masks that I love are these and these. Ps - I’m never afraid to walk out the door wearing them to drop the kids off with a pair of sunglasses on top ;)
